BENEFIT OF MUSIC
The principal benefit of music, at the
commencement of a seance, is to harmonize and unite the minds of the
members and prevent rambling conversation, which distracts and confuses.
There should be no feeling of restraint, nor should idle gossip or
conversation be indulged in. There should be a full realization of the
momentous fact that the spirits of those
mourned as dead are present, and that
the hour and place are made holy by
their coming. There should be love and
kindness in every heart, and no word but of gentle affection be spoken. A
circle is not an idle hour for diversion, but an opportunity of rare
value, and if there is one place more sacred than another, it is the table
whereon communion is held with the departed.
